Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has said that he is likely to visit China in the near future. Trump has not revealed whether he will attend the World War II commemoration event in September or at some other time.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will also be present at the September event. Earlier this year, Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping welcomed each other to their country in a phone conversation.

There are two opportunities for meetings in a short period of time. In September, a program will be held in Beijing to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Russian President Putin will also visit China at that event. They are likely to meet at the APEC summit to be hosted by South Korea in late October.

Trump made this statement during talks with Philippine President Fernando Marcos Jr. in the Oval Office. Trump said that even though the Philippines has good relations with the two countries, it will not affect him. (Agency)
