Kathmandu. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for an early ceasefire. He said he would initiate a ceasefire with Russia next week.
Addressing the Ukrainian people on Saturday, he said that Ukraine’s Defense Council Rustam Umerov had proposed a ceasefire to Russia.
He stressed that Russia should also stop the killings and begin the process of releasing prisoners from both sides. He said that the leadership meeting should be held in a safe place and that he was ready for this.
Earlier, ceasefire talks were held in June. The talks were disrupted after Russia demanded too much land from Ukraine to stop the war. Zelensky made this proposal a few days after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose severe sanctions if Russia did not cease fighting within 50 days. (Agency)
