Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has said that his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Ukraine war were productive. He said that the talks were productive, but he said that there was no deal in the talks.
Speaking at a press conference held after the three-hour-long talks, Russian President Putin responded that he was positive about ending the war. He did not elaborate.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian troops were killing people in Ukraine even during the talks.
Putin said that the root cause of the war needs to be identified. Although he is aware of the war’s end, he has warned Ukraine and European countries not to disrupt this process.
He said that this meeting will be a starting point for peace. Trump said that although there is mutual agreement on many things, some things remain to be agreed. However, he did not want to say it point by point.
Trump said that he would inform Zelensky and European leaders about this issue. He hopes to meet his Russian counterpart again. That meeting is likely to take place in Moscow. (Agency)
