Kathmandu. A six-point agreement has been reached after talks between the government and the agitating gold and silver traders. The traders have suspended their ongoing protest after reaching an agreement in a discussion held at the Finance Ministry on Thursday.

Informing about the agreement, Narendra Gupta, a representative of the Gold and Silver Traders Association, said that business will operate freely across the country from Friday (today).

The traders were dissatisfied with the inclusion of gold and gold jewelry in the list of luxury goods. Their main demand was a review of this issue.

The traders had protested after the government announced to impose luxury tax on gold and diamonds through the budget for the current fiscal year. For the past few days, they have been protesting by closing shops across the country.

Now, it is believed that the gold and silver trade in the market will resume after the agreement. The traders have pledged to cooperate with the government immediately and make trade easier.
