Today’s weather: Heavy rain likely in four provinces, urges caution

Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has stated that monsoon winds are currently affecting the country. In addition, the low pressure line of the monsoon is located around the average location in the east and slightly north of the average location in the west.

According to the division, the weather is currently generally cloudy in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and partly cloudy to mainly clear in the rest of the provinces. Light to moderate rain with thunder is occurring in a few places in Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and one or two places in the rest of the provinces.

The department has forecast that it will be partly to generally cloudy across the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces as well as in some places in other provinces.

There is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. There is also a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in some places in the high hills and mountainous areas.

Similarly, it will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country tonight. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some places in the hilly parts of all seven provinces. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in a few places in the remaining areas, while there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in some places in the high hills and mountainous areas.

The division has requested the general public in those areas to be careful as there is a risk of flooding in urban and Terai areas due to the risk of flooding due to the potential rain.

The general public and all concerned bodies have been requested to be vigilant and prepare as the water level in large and small rivers and streams may rise, daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, roads and air transport around the river areas may be affected.
