Internal Crisis Deepens Within the Party

Kathmandu. The CPN (Unified Socialist) has demanded a clarification from party leader Ram Kumari Jhakri for her public remarks criticizing the party leadership.

According to party secretary Som Prasad Pandey, Jhakri has been instructed to submit a written explanation within three days. “The party’s Disciplinary Commission has asked for a clarification regarding her statements,” Pandey stated.

Last Saturday, Jhakri publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the current leadership, calling for a major restructuring within the party. She pointed to party chair Madhav Kumar Nepal’s alleged involvement in the Patanjali land scandal and argued that the party now needs a new direction under new leadership.

Jhakri had said, “How can this be acceptable? I say—let’s go for an early general convention. Legally and constitutionally, the chairperson is in crisis. Many other party members are also facing issues. We can’t keep moving forward carrying a political corpse on our backs. If we really want to reform, shouldn’t we make some departures? Let’s hold an early convention and choose leadership from the floor. Any one of you could take charge.” Her comments have sparked strong discontent within the party.

The party deemed her remarks as a breach of internal discipline and has formally asked for a response. “Once her explanation is received, the party will make an appropriate decision,” Secretary Pandey said.

Jhakri’s critical statements, coupled with the party’s three-day ultimatum, suggest that an internal crisis is deepening within the CPN (Unified Socialist).
