Party’s General Convention to Be Held on Schedule
Chitwan — Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that occasional misunderstandings with coalition partner CPN-UML are natural.
Speaking to journalists in Bharatpur on Friday, Deuba stated that although Congress and UML are part of the same ruling coalition, they are fundamentally different political parties, so differences in opinion on certain issues are to be expected.
“Even within a coalition government, differing perspectives can lead to occasional misunderstandings,” Deuba said. “But this is not unusual. The government is functioning in line with mutual agreements.”
According to him, the removal of the ‘take-and-pay’ provision from the budget was done following Congress’s request, demonstrating the party’s active role in key government decisions.
Deuba also clarified that the party’s upcoming general convention will take place as scheduled.
He dismissed rumors about any postponement, calling such claims baseless.
Furthermore, he reiterated that allegations involving the Home Minister in the recent visa scandal are completely false. “Where would that even come from? It’s all baseless nonsense,” Deuba remarked.
President Deuba, along with other top Congress leaders, is currently in Chitwan to pay tribute to the late Gauridevi Pradhan, a veteran of the democratic movement.
