Rautahat. The East-West Highway in Rautahat has been blocked for seven hours by locals after a 35-year-old man died in a road accident in Mangalpur Paurai, Chandrapur Municipality-1, Rautahat. The highway has been closed since 6 AM on Thursday, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded and thousands of passengers in distress.
The body of Buddha Limbu was found on the road around 5 AM today. The vehicle that hit him has not yet been identified. The District Police Office, Rautahat, is actively searching for the vehicle. According to DSP Deepak Kumar Ray, the inability to identify the vehicle is causing difficulties.
The deceased’s family and locals have blocked the road, demanding the arrest of the driver responsible and compensation for the victim’s family.
With the highway blocked, smaller vehicles are crossing the Bagmati River via the railway bridge to reach their destinations. However, large buses and cargo trucks remain stuck at the accident site.
