Global IME Bank Organizes Plastic Waste Collection and Hiking on World Environment Day

Kathmandu. Global IME Bank Ltd. organized a one-day hiking program from Macchegaun, Kirtipur to Champadevi Temple premises with the aim of collecting plastic waste on the occasion of World Environment Day.

During the program, organized in collaboration with Kirtipur Municipality and Nepal Red Cross Society, Kirtipur Branch, approximately 150 kg of plastic waste was collected. Additionally, bamboo baskets (dustbins) produced by the local community for waste collection have been placed at various locations along the hiking route, which is expected to contribute to long-term waste management.

After collection, the waste was handed over to the municipality’s waste management center.

The program saw a significant presence of the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer Surendraraj Regmi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Suman Pokharel, Kirtipur Municipality representatives, Nepal Red Cross Society, Kirtipur Branch officials, bank employees, and local volunteers.

In the context of World Environment Day, the bank also completed a large-scale tree plantation program across the country.
