Kathmandu. Major opposition parties represented in the House of Representatives have concluded that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a corruption case against CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal out of retaliation.

This conclusion was reached during a meeting held on Friday at the Parliament building in Baneshwar, chaired by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, chairman of the main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Centre). Maoist MP Madhav Sapkota informed Nepal Khabar about the outcome.

“At first glance, the case filed by the CIAA against Madhav Nepal appears to be prejudiced,” Sapkota stated. “The meeting concluded that there is indeed prejudice, and further investigation into the matter will be pursued.”

The meeting was attended by prominent leaders including Dahal and Barshaman Pun from the Maoist Centre; DP Aryal, Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Santosh Pariyar, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, and Hari Dhakal from the Rastriya Swatantra Party; Rajendra Pandey and Sher Bahadur Kunwar from CPN (Unified Socialist); and Prabhu Sah from the Aam Janata Party.
The CIAA had filed a case against Madhav Kumar Nepal in the Special Court on Thursday. The accusation against Nepal is that he misappropriated funds by illegally granting land ceiling exemptions to Patanjali Yogpeeth and Ayurveda Company, and then immediately approving the sale of that same land.
