Transport Services Shut Down Nationwide from Today, Causing Public Hardship

Margadarsan News

Kathmandu – Public transport operators have shut down services across the country starting Monday, following a dispute over ride-sharing services.

The transport operators, under the coordination of the ‘Public Transport Protection Central Struggle Committee,’ have announced an indefinite nationwide transport strike starting Monday. As a result, public transport vehicles have been parked in garages across Nepal.

According to Bheem Jwala Rai, president of the Nepal Transport Independent Workers’ Organization, the strike is being carried out in response to the committee’s call.

The transport operators are demanding the cancellation of the ride-sharing regulations introduced by the Gandaki Province government. While the strike was initially limited to Gandaki Province, it has now expanded nationwide, severely affecting the general public.

Students traveling to attend pre-scheduled exams and people heading out for essential tasks have been left stranded.
