Kathmandu – Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has stated that the republic is the embodiment of the Nepali people’s long and arduous struggle.

Extending her greetings on the occasion of Republic Day through social media today, former President Bhandari said that the republic is a historic political achievement, and emphasized that it is the shared responsibility of all to protect, utilize, and develop it to build a prosperous Nepal.

She called on everyone to play their part from their respective positions in upholding republican values, principles, and ideals at all times.

“This political transformation has paved the way and encouraged the country’s socio-economic development,” former President Bhandari said on social media. “Certain achievements have been made in education, health, information technology, and infrastructure development. The feeling that we must develop our country by ourselves has also spread.”

Emphasizing the need to intensify efforts for the country’s economic development, she said that there must be dedicated efforts to realize the people’s aspirations for prosperity.

She expressed confidence that Republic Day would inspire the Government of Nepal, all political parties, and concerned stakeholders to contribute meaningfully towards the national campaign of building an economically prosperous Nepal.
