UML Will Be at the Forefront of the Fight Against All Forms of Regression: Prime Minister Oli

“You can’t just look at the former king’s horoscope—you have to look at the people’s horoscope too. Astrologers are welcome to read mine as well. The idea of reclaiming the throne is no longer viable. The monarchy, which the Nepali people have already overthrown, will not return. We who fought against the monarchy are still here in this country, so I urge you not to dream such regressive dreams.”

Pokhara: Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), KP Sharma Oli, has stated that the UML will stand at the forefront in the fight to block all kinds of regressive conspiracies while safeguarding the rights of the people and the sovereignty of the nation.

Inaugurating the 10th National Convention of the National Youth Association of Nepal today, PM Oli remarked that there is no prophecy in the people’s “horoscope” indicating the return of the monarchy and advised against becoming excited by such misguided dreams.

Referring to former Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Academy Jagman Gurung, who recently claimed that the monarchy would soon return based on the horoscope of former King Gyanendra Shah, Oli responded,
“It’s not enough to just look at the former king’s horoscope—you need to look at the people’s horoscope too. Astrologers are welcome to examine mine as well. The idea of restoring the royal throne is no longer viable. The monarchy, discarded by the Nepali people, will not return. We who fought against it are still here, and I urge everyone not to entertain such regressive dreams.”

He further criticized sensationalist claims such as the need to provide a helicopter for the Prime Minister to escape:
“Let me be clear—any regressive conspiracy will be ground to dust. To control and prevent such efforts, the Youth Association must step to the front, fully prepared.”

Oli noted that the UML is under attack from both internal and external opponents, and that had the party made serious errors, it would not be in its current strong position.
“The UML is a party that works for sound policies, good governance, and development. Don’t be discouraged by those who call you sycophants for supporting UML. I urge everyone to continue fulfilling their responsibilities without being misled by confusion or rumors.”

He emphasized the need for unity among all patriots and UML members to counter false allegations and attempts to diminish UML’s contributions.
“Efforts are underway to erase UML’s achievements and tarnish its leadership with baseless accusations. All nationalists and UML supporters must unite to reject such distortions.”

PM Oli stated that instability arises when politics is controlled by individuals who have never practiced or understood it. Emphasizing the need for stability and good governance, he mentioned the UML-Nepali Congress coalition and dismissed rumors about the collapse of the government.
“Fourteen months from now, I will resign and hand over leadership to Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba. Our government will remain in place to conduct elections. We are operating with zero tolerance against corruption, without favoring anyone.”

Calling for unanimous leadership to emerge from the youth convention, Oli urged participants to avoid infighting, assuring that fair management would be made for those not included in leadership.
“If consensus isn’t possible, then compete with integrity and transparency,” he advised.

The program was attended by UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Deputy General Secretary and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, Secretary Padma Aryal, Coordinator of Organizational Mechanism Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, and leaders Mahesh Basnet, Rajiv Pahari, Nirudevi Pal, and Kiran Paudel, among others.
