Kathmandu. Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which is celebrated by worshipping Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, who has received the right to perform Agra Puja, is being celebrated today. This festival is celebrated every year on Bhadra Shukla Chaturthi.
It is believed that Lord Ganesha was born on Bhadra Shukla Chaturthi in the Satya Yuga. On this occasion, special pujas are performed at Ganesh temples across the country, including Ashok Vinayak, Chandra Vinayak, Suryavinayak, Kamal Vinayak, Kamaladi Ganesh, in the valley.
Ganesh, the son of Shiva and Parvati, has the right to perform Agra Puja in any religious ceremony. Today, it is believed that it is believed that Ganesh should be performed by observing the fast of Haritalika (Teej) today, said Prof. Dr. Ramchandra Gautam, former chairman of the Nepal Panchang Nirikh Bikash Samiti and theologian.
The Ganesh Purana mentions the custom of worshipping Ganesh on the day of Bhadra Shukla Tritiya to pray for a happy married life and peace in life so that there will be no obstacles in life on the day of Chaturthi. The religious scholar Gautam said that there is a tradition of worshipping Ganesh in the morning to conclude the fast of Haritalika (Teej) and offering arharya to him. On this occasion, some people also observe the fast of Ganesh Chaturthi.
On this day, there is also a custom among the Newar community to distribute ‘Chusyamusya’ to children. Since 2065 BS, on the occasion of this festival, Ganesh Rath Yatra is also held in the capital and other major cities on the day after Chaturthi. The National Dharma Sabha was established on this day in 2064 BS. Therefore, this day is also celebrated as the foundation day of the Dharma Sabha. (RSS)
