Solukhumbu – Defense Minister Manbir Rai has stated that the Nepali Army is capable of dealing with all kinds of crises and disasters that may arise in the country.
Speaking at an interaction program on “Security of National Parks and Wildlife Reserves” organized by the Ministry of Defense today in Salleri, Minister Rai said the Nepali Army is not only responsible for border or peace security but is also capable of responding to any kind of problem that may occur in the country. He emphasized that the army has already been established as an institution that remains active during natural disasters, emergencies, and crises.
“The dedication and proactive role shown by the Nepali Army during natural disasters such as floods, landslides, glacial lake outbursts, inundation, and earthquakes is commendable,” Minister Rai said. “The army’s efforts to protect lives during the glacial lake outburst flood in Thame area of the district is one such example.”
He added that the Nepali Army has always fulfilled its responsibilities according to the nation’s needs.
Minister Rai also mentioned that the army is dedicated to the protection and security operations of Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. He said the army’s role has been effective not only in national security but also in environmental conservation, disaster management, and coordination with local communities.
The interaction program was attended by representatives of the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, national parks, local government officials, and other stakeholders. (RSS)
