RSP Demands Clarification from Editors Who Published Statement Challenging Parliamentary Committee
Kathmandu – The issue of the CPN (Maoist Centre) lacking representation in the subcommittee formed by the Public Accounts Committee to study the Bhairahawa Airport project has been raised.
Maoist MP Rajan Dahal expressed concern in Wednesday’s meeting of the Public Accounts Committee, stating that the subcommittee did not include any representative from the Maoist Centre.
The subcommittee, led by Nepali Congress MP Manju Khadka, includes UML MPs Yogesh Bhattarai, Achyut Prasad Mainali, and Saraj Ahmad Faruqi; RSP MP Manish Jha; independent MP Amaresh Kumar Singh; RPP MP Bikram Pandey; and Congress MP Shyam Kumar Ghimire.
Meanwhile, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Manish Jha objected to the language and tone of the press release issued on Tuesday by the Chinese contractor company CCMC. He argued that the release challenged the authority of the parliamentary committee and demanded that editors who published the statement should be asked for clarification.
In the same meeting, Nepali Congress MP Arjun Narsingh KC also expressed objections to CCMC’s statement and suggested that the company should issue an apology for the content and tone of its release.
Similarly, CPN (Unified Socialist) MP Prem Ale objected to the contractor’s move, stating that it was inappropriate for a contractor to challenge the study conducted by a parliamentary committee.
