Kathmandu. Although the monsoon is somewhat weak in Nepal, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has stated that the water vapor-rich air continues to enter from the Bay of Bengal.

Due to which, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain in some places of the country today as well, the division has informed.

This afternoon: It will be generally cloudy (cloudy throughout the sky) across the country. There is a possibility of moderate rain in some places of the terai and hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces including Madhes province and hilly regions of the remaining provinces as well as in a few places of the remaining terai region. There is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places of the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

Tonight: It will be generally cloudy in the hilly regions of Koshi province, Madhes province and Sudurpaschim province including the remaining provinces and partially cloudy (thin clouds) in the remaining places. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall in a few places in the hills and Terai areas of the remaining provinces including Madhesh Province, Koshi Province, Gandaki Province and Sudurpaschim Province and in one or two places in the Terai area. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places in the Terai and hill areas of Koshi Province.

The Meteorological Department has used the word ‘day’ here for the entire day, i.e. the time before 6 pm, and the word ‘night’ for the entire night, i.e. the time from 6 pm to 6 am the next day.

According to meteorologists, less than 10 mm of rain falling within 24 hours is called light rain, 10 to 50 mm of rain falling is called moderate rain.

And 50 to 100 mm of rain falling is called heavy rain, 100 to 200 mm of rain falling is called very heavy rain, and 200 mm of rain falling is called extremely heavy rain.

Similarly, rain in one or two places means that there is a possibility of rain in less than 10 percent of the area in any place of the respective province.

If there is a possibility of rain in 10 percent to 30 percent of the area, it is said that there may be rain in a few places.

Similarly, if there is a possibility of rain in 30 percent to 50 percent of the area, it is said that there may be rain in some places.

Similarly, if there is a possibility of rain in 50 percent to 80 percent of the area, it is said that there may be rain in many places.

If there is a possibility of rain in more than 80 percent of the area, it is said that there may be rain in most places.
