Kathmandu. Shri Krishna Janmashtami festival is being celebrated across the country today by worshipping and worshipping Lord Shri Krishna.
Since Lord Shri Krishna, the pioneer of Gyan Yoga, Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga, was born on the midnight of Bhadra Krishna Ashtami in the Dwapar Yuga, today is called ‘Shri Krishna Janmashtami’ and the night is called ‘Moharatri’. On this day, Lord Shri Krishna is worshipped, preached, and sung in Krishna temples across the country, and it is customary for women and men, especially men, to observe ‘vrata’ and stay awake all night.
Born as the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu to protect all humanity from injustice, tyranny and demonic tendencies, Shri Krishna inspired the human community to do good deeds by standing on the side of truth throughout his life. The ‘Shrimad Bhagavad Gita’, spoken by Lord Krishna himself while giving a sermon to Arjuna, one of the Pandavas who was engaged in the battle with the Kauravas in Kurukshetra, is considered a sacred text. This text, also known as the Gita for short, is believed to have been translated into the most languages in the world.
The mythological text mentions that Lord Krishna, who had shown his strange pastimes since childhood, destroyed demons like Kansa, Jarasandha, and Shishupala.
On this occasion, a fair is being held at the famous Krishna temple in Mangalbazar, Patan today. Similarly, a crowd of devotees also gathers at the Navatan Dham in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality in the northeastern part of the capital. A crowd of devotees also gathers at the Krishna temple at the office of the Nepal International Sri Krishna Consciousness Society (ISKCON) in Budhanilkantha in the northern part.
