Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has stated that the monsoon winds are currently affecting the country. In addition, the division estimates that the monsoon’s influence will increase in the next two days as the low pressure line of the monsoon is located around the Terai of Nepal.
According to the division, it is currently generally cloudy across the country. Moderate rain is occurring in a few places in Koshi, Madhes, and Bagmati provinces and in one or two places in the rest of the provinces. Heavy rain is also occurring in one or two places in Koshi province.
It will remain completely cloudy across the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of moderate rain in most places in the country. Heavy rain is also possible in a few places in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces and in one or two places, very heavy rain.
Tonight, it will be completely cloudy in the hilly areas of the country including Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while it will remain generally cloudy in the rest of the country. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall in the hilly areas of Gandaki and Karnali provinces, many places in the hilly and terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and some places in the hilly and terai areas of the remaining provinces.
Similarly, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places in the hilly and terai areas of Sudurpaschim provinces, and heavy rainfall in a few places in the terai areas of Lumbini province, and one or two places in the hilly areas of Gandaki and Karnali provinces.
The division has also requested everyone to be alert and prepare, predicting that there is a risk of landslides and debris flows in the hilly parts of the country due to the rainfall, water levels in large and small rivers and streams may rise, and the transportation sector may be affected.
