Kathmandu. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather is likely to be cloudy and rainy in various places of the country today (Shrawan 22, Thursday) in the afternoon and night.

According to the 24-hour bulletin issued by the Meteorological Division at 6 am today, this afternoon: It will be generally cloudy (thick clouds) in the hilly regions of the country including Kosi Province and Lumbini Province and partially cloudy (thin clouds) in the rest of the places. There is a possibility of moderate rain in the hills and Terai of Kosi Province and Lumbini Province and in a few places in the hills and Terai of the rest of the provinces. There is also a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in the hilly regions of Kosi Province, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province.

Tonight: It will be generally cloudy throughout the country. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall in some places in the hills and Terai of Koshi Province and Lumbini Province, including Madhes Province, and a few places in the hills and Terai of the remaining provinces. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places in the hills of Koshi Province.

The Meteorological Department has used ‘daytime’ here for the entire day, i.e. the time before 6 pm, and ‘night’ for the entire night, i.e. the time from 6 pm to 6 am the next day.

According to meteorologists, less than 10 millimeters of rain falling within 24 hours is light rainfall, 10 to 50 millimeters of rain falling is moderate rainfall, 50 to 100 millimeters of rain falling is heavy rainfall, 100 to 200 millimeters of rain falling is very heavy rainfall, and 200 millimeters of rain falling is extremely heavy rainfall.

Similarly, rainfall in one or two places means that there is a possibility of rainfall in less than 10 percent of the area in any place of the concerned province.

If there is a chance of rain in 10 percent to 30 percent of the area, it is said that it may rain in a few places.

Similarly, if there is a chance of rain in 30 percent to 50 percent of the area, it is said that it may rain in some places.

Similarly, if there is a chance of rain in 50 percent to 80 percent of the area, it is said that it may rain in many places.

If there is a chance of rain in more than 80 percent of the area, it is said that it may rain in most places.
