Kathmandu. England has defended the Women’s Euro Cup title with a dramatic victory over Spain.

England defeated Spain 3-1 in a penalty shootout in the final held in Switzerland on Sunday night. Earlier, the match had ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Spain took the lead in the 25th minute through Mario Caldentelli’s goal. That lead did not last long. England returned to the game in the 57th minute through Kelly’s goal.

England’s Chola Kelly scored the winning shot in the penalty shootout of the game that ended in a draw. Spain wasted three consecutive shots. Two of these shots were saved by England goalkeeper Hannah Hopton.

This is the first time that England has won the title on foreign soil. Also, after winning three consecutive European titles, coach Sarina Wigman has managed to register herself in the category of great coaches. She has won the title for two different countries.

England, who have confirmed their comeback, are the first team to concede a goal in all knockout matches at Euro 2025.
