The flood that occurred in the Kalungkhola, which flows through Paiyunthanthap-9, has completely damaged the Kalungkhola Hydropower Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jaimini Municipality Deputy Mayor Harihar Sharma said that the damage to the hydropower project amounted to about Rs 20 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
122 households in the area have been forced to live in darkness due to the damage to the project. The flood has washed away a bridge built at a cost of Rs 3.5 million in the same area alone. It has also damaged the ‘transformer’ of the central electricity transmission line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similarly, the cultivable land in the area has been turned into a swamp. Deputy Chief Sharma said that the fields that produce 800 to 1,000 muri rice per year have been turned into a wasteland. Due to the flood, six houses are at high risk of landslides, while five houses in Theule are at risk. Similarly, two sheds have been completely damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The flood has also blocked the road leading to Bareng via Kushmisera-Paiyuthanthap-Rangkhani. 10 irrigation canals in that area have been damaged.
