Kathmandu<\/strong> \u2013 Newly appointed Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Bishwanath Paudel, has stated that the central bank will carry out its responsibilities in alignment with the government\u2019s fiscal policy, while maintaining the autonomy of the institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Assuming office today at the central bank\u2019s Baluwatar office, Governor Paudel emphasized that Nepal Rastra Bank will operate in support of fiscal policy goals set by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhatever is determined by fiscal policy will be supported by monetary policy,\u201d he said. \u201cRegulation and supervision are also key responsibilities. Rather than tightening the system by making excessive rules, we need to strengthen our supervisory capacity. For that, the capabilities of the central bank must be enhanced.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n He also stated that the protection of citizens\u2019 deposits in banks and financial institutions, and the improvement of credit policies, would be among the central bank\u2019s top priorities.
