Kathmandu. Insurance Authority Chairman Sharad Ojha has been suspended from his post. He was suspended from his post after the Cabinet meeting held on Monday evening decided to form a committee to investigate him.
According to Sub-section 3 of Section 12 of the Insurance Act, 2079, if an investigation committee is formed against the chairman or members, they will automatically be suspended.
The government has formed a three-member committee led by former Justice Krishna Giri. The committee members are Kapildev Oli and Jeevan Prakash Sitaula.
Ojha is accused of using fake documents to get appointed as the chairman of the Insurance Authority. A writ has been filed in the Supreme Court in this regard, while the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority is also investigating.
