Kathmandu. President Ram Chandra Poudel has said that we should all reflect on the historical fact that Bhanubhakta helped establish linguistic unity among Nepali speakers around the world due to the Nepali language he gave.
Remembering Bhanubhakta Acharya on the occasion of his 212th birth anniversary on Sunday, President Poudel, in his message of best wishes, wished for happiness, peace and prosperity for all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad.
“Bhanubhakta has made an incomparable contribution to the promotion of Nepali language, literature and culture by making the Nepali language the language of the people and making it more advanced,” the President’s message said. “Bhanubhakta, the pioneer poet of Nepali poetry and the promoter of the language, is also known as a representative poet of the early period of Nepali literature.”
The President’s congratulatory message states that the Sanskrit Valmiki Ramayana, translated by Bhanubhakta Acharya into Nepali in a very simple, elegant and interesting manner, has played an important role in developing public awareness and enhancing emotional unity among all Nepalis from the Himalayas, hills and Terai, as it is on the tongues of all those concerned with Nepali literature.
President Poudel has mentioned that Bhanubhakta’s Ramayana is a work that promotes the Nepali script and helps in using religion, duty, loyalty, service, etc. in human life.
President Poudel mentioned that our true respect for Bhanubhakta will be only if we can develop his birthplace as a historical and cultural site of literature and ancient poets. He remembered Bhanubhakta Acharya with respect and wished that we all be inspired to love, respect and protect language and culture, deepening the feeling of mutual trust, love and unity among all Nepalis.
The son of father Dhananjaya Acharya and mother Dharmavati Devi, the first poet Bhanubhakta Acharya was born on Asad 29, 1871 BS in Chundi Ramgha, Tanahun. In memory of that day, Bhanu Jayanti is celebrated every year on Asad 29 by all Nepali language, literature and culture lovers by organizing various programs. (RSS)
