Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has stated that monsoon winds are currently affecting the country. In addition, the monsoon low pressure line is located near the mean position.
According to the division, it is currently generally cloudy in the hilly areas of the country including Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, while it is partially cloudy in the rest of the country. Light to moderate rain is occurring at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
It will remain partially to generally cloudy across the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at many places in Sudurpaschim province and some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces and a few places in Madhes province.
There is also a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at a few places in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and one or two places in Gandaki province.
Similarly, it will remain generally cloudy across the country tonight. There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at some places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and a few places in the remaining provinces. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The Division has requested the general public and all concerned bodies to adopt necessary vigilance and advance preparations as there is a risk of soil erosion, floods, landslides and flash floods due to the possible rainfall. There is a risk of inundation in urban and Terai areas, water levels in large and small rivers and streams may rise, and daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, construction work around the river areas, road and air transport may also be affected.
