Kathmandu. The Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has provided information about the possible rainfall for today (Ashar 22, Sunday).

According to a brief bulletin issued by the division at 6 am, today: There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunder/lightning in some places in Kosi Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and Sudurpaschim Province and a few places in the remaining provinces. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places in the hilly areas of Kosi Province and Bagmati Province. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain/snowfall in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of the country.

Tonight: There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunder/lightning in many places in Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province and a few places in the remaining provinces. There is also a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in Gandaki Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province and one or two places in Koshi Province, Bagmati Province and Lumbini Province. There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall/snowfall at a few places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of the country.

According to meteorologists, less than 10 millimeters of rain falls within 24 hours, moderate rainfall falls between 10 and 50 millimeters, heavy rainfall falls between 50 and 100 millimeters, very heavy rainfall falls between 100 and 200 millimeters and extremely heavy rainfall falls above 200 millimeters.

Similarly, rainfall at one or two places means that there is a possibility of rainfall in less than 10 percent of the area of ​​any place in the respective province.

If there is a possibility of rainfall in an area of ​​10 percent to 30 percent, it is said that there may be rainfall in a few places.

Similarly, if there is a possibility of rainfall in an area of ​​30 percent to 50 percent, it is said that there may be rainfall in some places.

Similarly, if there is a chance of rain in 50 percent to 80 percent of the area, it is said that it may rain in many places.

If there is a chance of rain in more than 80 percent of the area, it is said that it may rain in most places.
