Seven-member special parliamentary committee formed to investigate cooling period issue

Kathmandu. It has been decided to form a seven-member special parliamentary committee to investigate the tampering and irregularities in the cooling period provisions of the ‘Federal Civil Service Bill 2080’.

The decision to form the special committee was made following discussions held on Saturday between Speaker Devraj Ghimire and chief whips of various parties. Informing about the meeting, CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula said that a seven-member committee has been formed, comprising two from the Nepali Congress, two from the CPN-UML, one from the Maoist Center, one from the National Independent Party and one from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party. He also said that it has been agreed that the Nepali Congress will lead the committee.

He said that it has been agreed that the committee should submit its report within 15 days. He said that the legislative work should be credible.

It is said that the list of members of the committee will be made public in the meeting of the House of Representatives to be held on Monday. Chief Whip Bartaula said that the upcoming meeting of Parliament will approve the decision to form the committee and that there has been an agreement to give the committee 15 days to investigate and study.
