Kathmandu. The second statutory general convention of the Nepal Communist Party (UML) is beginning today. The general convention to be held at Sunrise Hall in Godavari will be inaugurated by party chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The party secretariat meeting held on Thursday approved the agenda of the general convention. According to the agenda, the 40-minute inaugural session will focus on document presentation, said Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali.
At the general convention, party chair Oli will present a political report, party vice-chairman and deputy prime minister and finance minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel will present a proposal on amending the statute, and general secretary Pokharel will present an organizational report.
Standing committee member Karna Thapa’s dissenting document will also be presented, said Deputy General Secretary Gyawali. Leader Thapa had registered a document of dissenting opinion at the party office yesterday.
Similarly, the meeting will include Chairman Keshav Badal from the Central Disciplinary Commission, Chairman Dr. Pushpa Kandel from the Central Accounts Commission, Chairman Dr. Vijay Subba from the Central Election Commission and Chairman Amrit Kumar Bohora from the Central Advisory Council, UML Deputy General Secretary Gyawali said.
On the second day of the general convention, 10 groups will be formed to discuss the documents presented on Bhadra 21. According to him, there is a schedule to present the suggestions received from the groups on Bhadra 22 and respond to the suggestions.
Similarly, he informed that the schedule is to hold the election of the Central Election Commission and conclude the general convention with contemporary proposals on the same day.
A total of 2,341 people will participate in the general convention, including 2,260 delegates from across the country and 315 people in the capacity of organizers.
