Bhaktapur – A Bagmati Province-wide karate tournament is set to be held in Bhaktapur, organized by the Suryabinayak Municipal Sitoryo Karate Association.

In a press conference, the organizers announced that the tournament, aimed at promoting karate and producing new athletes, will take place on Jestha 9 and 10 (May 22–23) with sponsorship from Suryabinayak Municipality.

According to Ramsharan Twati, Senior Vice President of the Bhaktapur District Sitoryo Karate Association and coordinator of the event, participants from various dojos and districts of the province will take part in the competition.

The tournament will be held at Seratan Banquet located in Ward No. 9 of Suryabinayak Municipality. Over 500 athletes are expected to participate, including both male and female competitors, categorized by weight classes.

The men’s weight categories will range from 35 kg to 67+ kg, and the women’s from 35 kg to 61 kg. In total, 15 events will be held, including individual kata and team kata events for both men and women.

Twati further informed that the tournament will be conducted following the rules of WKF (World Karate Federation), AKF (Asian Karate Federation), and NKF (Nepal Karate Federation).
