Kathmandu. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast that rain will continue in various parts of the country this afternoon and night.

According to the bulletin issued by the division at 6 am, the weather forecast and the possibility of rain today are as follows:

This afternoon: It will be generally cloudy across the country (cloudy sky). There is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder/lightning in many places in the hilly areas of the country including Koshi Province, Bagmati Province and Lumbini Province and some places in the Terai. There is also a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi Province, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province.

Tonight: It will be generally cloudy in the hills of the country including Lumbini Province and partially cloudy in the rest of the Terai. There is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder/lightning in a few places in the hilly areas of the country including Lumbini Province and one or two places in the Terai.

According to meteorologists, light rainfall is defined as less than 10 millimeters of rain within 24 hours, moderate rainfall is defined as 10 to 50 millimeters of rain, heavy rainfall is defined as 50 to 100 millimeters of rain, very heavy rainfall is defined as 100 to 200 millimeters of rain, and extremely heavy rainfall is defined as 200 millimeters of rain.

Similarly, rainfall in one or two places means that less than 10 percent of the area in any part of the province is likely to receive rain.

If there is a possibility of rain in an area of 10 to 30 percent, it is said that it may rain in a few places.

Similarly, if there is a possibility of rain in an area of 30 to 50 percent, it is said that it may rain in some places.

Similarly, if there is a possibility of rain in an area of 50 to 80 percent, it is said that it may rain in many places.

If there is a possibility of rain in more than 80 percent of the area, it is said that it may rain in most places.
