Kathmandu. Five Nepali citizens who were in Iranian jails for various reasons have returned home.
The Nepali citizens in jail were brought back home with the help of the Nepali Honorary Consul in Tehran and the International Organization for Migration after the court there ordered their release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated.
Earlier, at the request of the Indian government, nine Nepali citizens were rescued from Iran in three batches on different dates by an Indian Air Force flight that went to rescue Indian citizens.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the Nepali citizens were able to be brought back home as the peace and security situation has improved after the ceasefire between both sides on June 23, 2025, which began on June 13, 2025. The government has thanked everyone who showed cooperation, activism and goodwill in the process. (RSS)
